HIS MAJESTY AWARDS EXCELLENCE

His Majesty King Letsie III conferred awards to over 200 members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) and Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) at the event held at the Royal Palace in Maseru.

The presentation of awards forms part of the activities aimed at marking the celebration of the King’s 59th birthday. His Majesty bestowed medals for meritorious service, gallantry and 30 years long service upon the disciplined forces.

Speaking in an interview, the Senior Private Secretary to His Majesty’s Office, Mr. Monehela Posholi said this year medals are presented to the disciplined forces only, saying this is due to the fact that the public did not nominate individuals who excel at the various sectors.

He said over the past years, civilians also received awards in the categories of health, initiation, education and entrepreneurship among others.

One of the beneficiaries, Brigadier Ntlele Ntoi expressed his appreciation to His Majesty and LDF management, saying it has been a long journey since 1992 when he joined the military and experienced various challenges that through the grace of God they overcame.

He further highlighted that it is time to celebrate this great achievement with their colleagues and families, especially families of their colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty and would be here to get this great honour.

He urged every Mosotho to strive to do better at their jobs as the country needs them to bring a better Lesotho for all.

His Majesty King Letsie III is the first son of the late King Moshoeshoe II and late Queen ‘Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. He was born on July 17, 1963 at Scott Hospital in Morija. His first name is Mohato and was christened David at the Roman Catholic Church.

The event was graced by the presence of the Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro, Cabinet Ministers, and Senior government officials.
