HIS MAJESTY PRESENTS AWARDS TO BEST ACHIEVERS

His Majesty King Letsie III presented awards to 11 and 41 students from the Royal Lesotho Lifesaving Association (RLLA) and Prince Mohato Award Programme respectively at the event held in Maseru on Wednesday.

The Prince Mohato Award was in three levels, namely Bronze, Silver and Gold while those from the Royal Lesotho Life Saving included Bronze, Cross, Silver Cross and Lifesaver of the year.

Speaking at the event, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Ratšiu Majara said the recipients were trained for months and were equipped with skills that will enable them to face life challenges and influence whatever they come across.

He also expressed pride over the achievements of recipients, appealing to them to represent the country well by utilising their skills and turn the country into the city on the hill.

One of the recipients from RLLA who won an award for lifesaver of the year, Mr. Rethabile Majalle expressed appreciation for the award, saying he has a long way to go in saving lives of the people.

He said the award will motivate them to keep on saving lives of people, saying they have rescued some people in rivers and dams.

He therefore urged parents to allow their children to undergo swimming lessons due to climate change to avoid incidents where they drown in water while trying to swim.

On the other hand, Liteboho Moeketsi from Prince Mohato Award said they are trained to be best citizens and are motivated to work hard in their studies as well as to achieve their goals.

She said they have also been assisted to be independent, be heard and be recognised hence expressed gratitude for the award.

The Prince Mohato Award Programme, which His Majesty is its Patron is a programme that provides various activities aimed at developing lives, acquiring leadership skills and instilling responsibility.

The programme is open to all persons regardless of gender, culture, religion, political affiliation and mental or physical disability.
