KING ACCEPTS CREDENTIALS FROM KOREA

King Letsie III accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador-Designate of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Mr. Jong Song II presented these letters at an event held at the Royal Palace, Maseru, on Passover Thursday, 17 April 2025.

In his acceptance speech, the King acknowledged and appreciated mutual relationships existing between the two countries since their re-establishment in 2003. He explained that the presence of Mr. Song II in Lesotho is a testament to Korea’s commitment to enhancing relations between the two countries.

He added that both countries, guided by principles of equality, solidarity and mutual desire, will go a long way in strengthening these relations during Mr. Song II’s tenure as Ambassador.

He called the Ambassador to explore various avenues of cooperation between the two countries, particularly at this time when the world is faced with different challenges that include climate change, youth unemployment and economic challenges. “Through constructive dialogue, we can achieve international peace”, he said.

Similarly, Mr. Song II commended Lesotho through the Head of State for commemorating 200 years marking the existence of the Basotho nation founded by Morena Moshoeshoe I. He further applauded Lesotho for celebrating 58 years of independence, expressing his commitment that he will do everything in his power to deliver to the best of his abilities.

Lesotho and Korea have enjoyed ongoing relations, and today’s event highlights a shared commitment to deepening those ties.
