JOIN THE CELEBRATION, WEAR TRADITIONAL ATTIRE EVERY FRIDAY- GS

In celebration of the nation’s remarkable 200 years of existence, different sectors are invited to partake in a special initiative to showcase cultural heritage and unity.

As part of the festivities, the Public Servants, Parastatals, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Private Companies employees are urged to wear traditionally branded attire every Friday, starting from this week.

The Government Secretary (GS), Mrs. Teboho ‘Mokela said on Friday that this initiative aims to honour Basotho’s rich history, diverse traditions, and collective identity as a nation. She added that by wearing attire that reflects cultural heritage, citizens can actively participate in commemorating two centuries of resilience, progress, and shared values.

In addition to encouraging cultural pride and solidarity, this weekly tradition serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and cherishing Basotho’s unique customs and traditions. It provides an opportunity for individuals to express their appreciation for the nation’s heritage while fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity within communities.

”As we embark on this commemorative journey, let us come together in unity and celebration, embracing the richness of our cultural tapestry and reaffirming our commitment to building a brighter future for generations to come,” said the GS.

Mrs. ‘Mokela mentioned that National teams branded sporting code jerseys will be worn on the last Friday of every month, saying district teams branded sporting jerseys will be worn according to which district an individual comes from on any Friday, while Seshoeshoe, locally branded clothes or any other Basotho traditional regalia that conforms to work standards on any other Friday.
