The Principal Employment Officer, Mrs. Kabelo Maema has announced significant changes to the work permit system, emphasizing its streamlining and efficiency.

In an interview with the Agency, she stated that the permits are now tailored primarily for individuals coming to work within Lesotho rather than citizens seeking employment abroad.

Notably, she said the processing time has been reduced from two months to just two weeks, marking a substantial improvement in accessibility.

Furthermore, she said applicants will face a fee of M3000.00 for a two-year permit, along with an application fee of M500 plus M350 for a card.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment inspect the work permit before the renewal process to see whether one abides by the rules or not. The renewal fee is the same as the initial amount.
