MINISTER HAILS MR MATLA AS COURAGEOUS GENTLEMAN

The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Matjato Moteane praised the late former Minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation, Mr. Khotso Matla as a courageous, honourable and gentleman.

Mr. Moteane was speaking on behalf of the Lesotho Government at the Memorial Service to honour former Minister of Forestry and Land Reclamation, Mr. Khotso Matla at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Maseru on Tuesday.

Family, friends, colleagues and Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) members – dressed in their party regalia including representatives of other political parties were there to honour the late Mr. Matla succumbed to death due to a long-time illness of over three years ago.

Mr. Moteane said the deceased courageousness and gentleness urged him to fight for the existence and functionality of cooperatives.

“Let us introspect and ensure that as candidates we give hope to the nation rather than being known as liars and corrupt people,” he said.

The Minister of Public Works and Transport noted that he is hopeful that the government led by RFP and its coalition partners will learn from other parties to serve the society with humility, saying the salvation of the nation lies in the hands of its people, especially Leaders.

The LCD Leader, Mr. Mothetjoa Metsing said death is one of the painful moments that reminds all that Christ is above everything as He is the one who assured Christians to believe and thank God even in times of death.

“God knows there is life beyond death, He created us all and we must accept when He decides to take us to Him through death,” he stressed.

Mr. Metsing urged the Matla family to thank God for the well lived life of their late father, who touched the lives of many during his time in this world.

On behalf of colleagues, Dr ‘Mamphono Khaketla, former Minister of Education and Training said Mr. Matla will be remembered amongst others during his time as the Deputy Minister of Trade at the time when he ensured the implementation of the Diploma in Cooperative Affairs as well as Degrees at Cooperatives College. “This he did hand in glove with a partnership with one of the Universities in Tanzania”. She explained.

Meanwhile, Mr. Matla’s only daughter, Mrs. Mateboho Latela thanked all for supporting the family during this crucial time.

The deceased will be given an official funeral at Ha Ramoloi, Leribe on Friday (05/01/2024).

Present at the service included former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Lesao Lehohla and the public.
