MORE FOREIGN NATIONALS CAUGHT

The Ministry of Home Affairs has intercepted four Bangladeshi men who were trying to enter Lesotho illegally using fraudulent permits.
This is according to information from the Ministry of Home Affairs which states that the quartet was apprehended and returned at OR Tambo International Airport before boarding a flight to Lesotho.
This happens just over a week after three Chinese nationals were apprehended at Moshoeshoe I International Airport attempting to enter the country illegally using fraudulently acquired entry documents.
The statement shows that the ministry is working tirelessly to put in place robust controls to prevent the unlawful entry of foreign nationals into Lesotho.
In an interview, the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Motlalentoa Letsosa confirmed that it has become a norm for foreign nationals to forge their letter of invitation to Lesotho in order to gain access into the country adding that in a week, they arrest between three and four foreigners.
Commenting on the measures the ministry has taken to curb the act, Mr. Letsosa said they have suspended the issuance of Citizenship and Indefinite Residence permits as they have realized that foreign nationals take the said permits for their own reasons instead of what they are intended for.
He commented that said there have been suspicions that officers at Moshoeshoe I International Airport play a part in foreign nationals fraudulently flocking into the country, saying since those were only suspicions, they have decided that officers should not be deployed permanently but rotate for transparency.
Meanwhile, the ministry is currently engaged in a number of campaigns that are aimed at raising awareness to  Basotho about human trafficking.
