The Prime Minister, Dr Moeketsi Majoro arrived in the country from the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York which began on September 21 and ended on 27.
Speaking in an interview, the Prime Minister’s Press Attache, Mr. Buta Moseme said while in New York, the Prime Minister addressed the UN General Assembly under the theme ‘Building Resilience through Hope to Recover from the COVID-19, Respond to the Needs of the Planet, Respect the Rights of People and Revitalise the United Nations’.
Mr. Moseme said the Prime Minister also led Food System Dialogue and had a meeting with the President of America who committed to donating more Pfizer vaccines.
He mentioned that at the same event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mrs. ‘Matšepo Ramakoae participated in a meeting in which countries agreed to destroy nuclear weapons to create a safe world for all.
Mr. Moseme revealed that while in New York, Lesotho’s delegation held meetings with countries that include Qatar, United Emirates Arab and Turkey with the aim to attract investors and form relations that will benefit Lesotho and Basotho.
Established in 1945 under the Charter of the United Nations, the General Assembly occupies a central position as the chief deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the United Nations.
