The Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Ms. Nthati Moorosi says the back-to-school event is meant to inspire students as future leaders.

She said this at the Ministry’s event to celebrate the back-to-school at Thetsane High School on Monday, stressing that the need to wear the uniform properly is a sign of respect.

The peak of the event was the awarding of trophies and mobile phones to eight top achievers of the 2023 -24 LGCSE within Thetsane region and schools were also given stationery in a bid to ease schoolwork.

Minister Moorosi noted the importance of students to have dreams as was the motivational speech by Mrs. Nomaswati Letsholo.

“We want successful students as the future is in your hands,” she stressed.

She noted that the Ministry will embark on a youth competition in line with Information Technology as well as a 200-year competition in a bid to empower youth.

She said youth are learning during a difficult time of drugs and social media, thus commending LDF for the wonderful work of instilling patriotism amongst youth.

In the same token, Major Bokang Melato of LDF who is also in charge of the youth development programme said nothing works without somebody at work, thus urging youth to take it upon themselves to be catalysts of positive change.

On behalf of Sponsors, Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr.  Nizam Goolam said despite one’s financial status, there is a need for students to work hard to be successful in their future.

“If you are learning in a conducive environment, maintain that standard and continue for the future is bright ahead,” he stressed.
