NRA WEBSITE LAUNCHED

The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST), Mr. Tšoinyana Rapapa together with the Mr. Minister of Justice and Law, Advocate Lekhetho Rakuoane graced an event marking the launch of the National Reforms Authority (NRA) website (www.nra.org.ls) in Maseru on Tuesday.
In his statement of support, Minister Rapapa commended NRA staff for the milestone, saying NRA has since been working hard to ensure implementation of the decisions made by Basotho at the Multi-stakeholder National Dialogue Plenary II held at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre on November 25 – 27, 2019.
He noted that the website will indeed serve as an information hub and point of reference for all including generations to come.
“I fully concur that reforms journey is one of the remarkable expeditions for Lesotho and its people, thus storage and or documentation in the form of website is vital,” he said noting that the presence of the website means that the clientele will access services anytime and anywhere they are, it cuts costs and gives provision for market expansion.
He further appealed to the media to be present in Parliament when the National Code of Conduct is presented by the end of this week or next week, saying even the National Contact Centre will be launched on April 22, 2022, and this will give Basotho a platform to share their thoughts on a variety of Government services.
Moreover, he has confirmed that websites are becoming more significant in this era of technology and Covid-19, where societies are expected to avoid crowds in an endeavour to stay safe and protected against the virus. Therefore, he urged all Government Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies as well as private entities to ensure the efficiency of the websites to ease communication.
He called upon all Basotho to honour the Government’s clarion call of having all eligible citizens be vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus as well as to further receive the Covid-19 vaccination booster (Sematlafatsi) after six months of being fully vaccinated.
According to Advocate Rakuoane, Lesotho is now a success story due to NRA, therefore this process is about the rebirth of future generations hence will forever remain sustainable.
“I congratulate NRA for this innovative tool which will serve as a reservoir for information,” he said.
NRA Chairperson, Chief Pelele Letsoela said for the longest time, Lesotho has been making news globally due to political instability. However, the journey of reforms goes a long way towards transforming the country for the better. He announced that NRA’s tenure of office ends on April 30th, 2022 hence expressed hope that the website will exist even after the authority has completed its work.
The NRA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Advocate Mafiroane Motanyane reminded the nation that NRA has been formed to manage and lead the reforms process in relation to plenary II as well as to safeguard the voice of Basotho.
Talking about NRA’s progress thus far, he said NRA has amongst others contributed to the development and drafting of the IEC Bill Referendum Bill currently before the Senate for discussion, adding that the dynamic website is yet another achievement.
“it is our hope that the website will exist even after NRA has completed its work,” he remarked.
